From 12Planet:Enterprise intranet, extranet, and wireless instant messaging server software. The software is available on all platforms including Linux, Windows, and Solaris. The software lets you to create a secure enterprise instant messaging network within minutes. Also it includes a Web-based IM client, so no client side installation is required. Because the server is standard and based on the Microsoft Messenger (greenwich) instant messaging protocol, you can use all the compatible applications including Windows XP messenger, Trillian messenger, and many other free messengers as desktop im client. The server can also be accessed through mobile phones using 12Planet IM for Symbian mobile application, supported phones include SonyEricsson P800 and P802.
Note: Make sure that only one IP address is defined on your server machine. Otherwise, please contact support@12planet.com for detailed installation instructions.

Summary: this is a perfect solution if you don't want to mess up with complex Microsoft stuff. The IM server is quick to install and very simple to use, just what we needed to replace the public, unsecure IM we had!

Summary: The flexibility of web based applet deployment is really a plus. The compatibility with the Windows XP client is an excellent feature as this simplifies our deployment tasks.
