Version: GnuCash 2.2.6
Pros: Version 2.2.6 works pretty good. the few crashes are bareable.
Cons: BEWARE of version 2.2.8, It is a total train wreck. It is unquestionably the buggiest of the 3 or 4 versions I have used.
Summary: Good package, but beware of 2.2.8 read more

"More Work Than It's Worth for Windows Users"
Pros: The overall design of the application is good. Properly supported, with bugs fixed and features properly installed, it would be perhaps the best of the lot for general home/small business accounting.
Cons: Killer bugs, with no responsive support. Too many 'unix developer' contortions required to get all features- such as quotes- operable on Windows.

"Very powerful program, some upgrading needed"
Pros: It's free. It covers the basics as well as some paid programs with a lot of advanced features as well. Imports QIF files will.
Cons: Not real intuitive for non-accountant type, but it has made progress in this area. Interface needs some work from designers.
Summary: Any evaluation of a finance program depends on the user's needs. For that reason this program will handle the needs of many people admirably and at no cost. In my case the reports are what interest me most and it is precisely in this area that the ... read more

"Everything you need. Nothing you don't."
Pros: Straight forward double-entry bookkeeping. No ads for expensive services. Good tutorial system. Imports all popular digital bank statement and tax program files.
Cons: At first look, it's difficult to tell how to get started. Automated banking system seems to be geared primarily toward European systems.
Summary: Very powerful, no-nonsense and no frills tool for keeping up with your budget and your taxes. read more
