Publisher's description of BestCrypt 7.20.2
From Jetico:With BestCrypt you allocate a portion of free space on your drive to keep sensitive data in encrypted form. This creates a virtual drive that you work with as you would any other drive. BestCrypt uses strong encryption algorithms, including Blowfish, GOST, and DES. Features include a time-out option, hot keys, a wiping utility, the ability to add your own encryption algorithm, support for Windows XP, swap-file encryption, and a hidden container.
Version 7.20.2 supports containers larger than 512 GBytes on NTFS partitions.

Version: BestCrypt 7.20.2
"Good program, but don't bother"
Pros: BestCrypt is a very solid program, with a good interface and a very solid encryption level. The user interface is well designed, and the support for hidden containers is a nice feature.
Cons: Don't bother with it, though. Use TrueCrypt instead - it's free, open source, and does everything bestcrypt does and more. BestCrypt requires installation and is a pretty sizable program - Truecrypt can be run off of a USB key. Bestcrypt requires a specific extention - Truecrypt does not, thereby increasing plausable deniability. As I remember, BestCrypt does not support the use of keyfiles - Truecrypt support is fast and easy. Both have support for hidden containers, but TrueCrypt's handling of container-in-a-container is implemented far more successfully. And best of all - Bestcrypt will cost you a pretty penny - Truecrypt is completely free. Bottom line, this is a good program, but there are better alternatives out there.

Version: BestCrypt 7.20.2
"Excellent program, but there is a bug"
Pros: Creates an encrypted container with very high encryption technology, contents of the container cannot be seen without opening it with a password. In contrast to various other encryption programs, like WinZip, which encrypt the contents of files, but anyone can see the names of files and folders inside your encrypted file. I have been using this program for over 6 years. It is good and solid
Cons: Sometimes it crashes Windows XP with a blue screen when you try to mount a container. It happens once a year or once per several months. I contacted Jetico and they tried to solve this but they haven't been able to fix this bug so far.

"Demo program is great - if the company could be contacted"
Pros: This is an ideal security solution - it allows you to quickly and easily archive files and use a password. You can transport the archive anywhere.
Cons: The company never returned any of my emails after 3 business days and placing my order online. The company is located in Finland.

Version: BestCrypt 7.20.2
Pros: Transparent encryption, wiping built right into the shell, swap file encryption, with multiple algorithms to choose from, this is a very mature program so it has very few bugs.
Cons: It was somewhat glitchy when using NTFS drives under win 98. I know that 98 was not meant to read ntfs drives, but BC loads some driver to allow 98 to do that and it seems to cause the system to crash very frequently, but that is probably going to be a rare problem among users

Version: BestCrypt 7.20.2
Pros: None
Cons: After installation I rebooted and a pop up window came up and stated that my 42 day trial had expired.
