BillQuick 2005 makes time tracking and invoicing automatic. The application includes more than 400 reports and invoice templates. Enter time in as few as two keystrokes. The software handles hourly, fixed fee, hourly not to exceed, and recurring contract types, and supports unlimited bill rates per employee or activity. Besides tracking time, BillQuick also includes project management features allowing you to track your job and engagements accurately. This software is designed for architects, engineers, contractors, accountants, CPA, attorneys, computer consultants, graphics designer, and all other professional consultants.

Note: You have to register with the developer in order to obtain free trial key. This is a very large (112MB) file and may take several hours to download via dial-up modem.

• "BillQuick keeps you out of the red"

Here's a powerful piece of office software that won't put you in the red. With the free BillQuick Lite, you can generate intermediate invoices, track money outflow, and assess total payments with ease. Though the interface looks busy, with a multitude of icons and options, the Outlook-style layout makes the app familiar even for first-time users. Role-based navigation streamlines the workflow and keeps confusion mostly at bay.

Overall, we found it quite intuitive, though the icons could be more explicit. The file size of the download is rather large, and the installation takes correspondingly long. But that's a minor quibble, more than offset by the zero-dollar price. From charting billable hours to managing multiple fee schedules, contractors won't be able to believe their luck with BillQuick Lite.

  "Great Product- and FREE!"

  Pros: Great software. Yes, you do get it FREE. I downloaded the 30 day trial but called their customer service number and told them I wanted the Free License (no expiration) and key. They promptly emailed me the correct key and registration codes. Great service. Advanced features are locked and require upgrade, but the free version still has more features than I will probably be able to use. You can even sync with QB or Microsoft SBA. Awesome. Also, you can get a quick walkthrough of the program a their website or a comprehensive tutorial. I am extremely satified with this program. Help feature is also very good.

  Pros: Great for invoices (better than excel)

  Cons: some things could have been better but for free, its great.

  "Gave up on trying to get "free" version"

  Pros: Don't know; I don't have a week to waste trying to get a reg key so I can try it (see Cons, below).

  Cons: So I go to their website & d/l the so-called "free" lite version (112MB). After I install it, the "get key" link in the software is only for a 30-day eval of the $395 paid version. I finally found the page on their site to request a Lite reg key, filled in all of my info AGAIN, and got a screen saying they'll get around to e-mailing it to me in 3-5 BUSINESS DAYS. Bottom line: don't bother, unless you don't mind waiting a @#$% week to get a reg key just so you can look at the thing.

  "There is no free license"

  Pros: This seems to be a great product/

  Cons: There is no free license. Once you install you must register for a 30 day trial. I have found no way to a free anything.
