- "BillQuick keeps you out of the red"
Here's a powerful piece of office software that won't put you in the red. With the free BillQuick Lite, you can generate intermediate invoices, track money outflow, and assess total payments with ease. Though the interface looks busy, with a multitude of icons and options, the Outlook-style layout makes the app familiar even for first-time users. Role-based navigation streamlines the workflow and keeps confusion mostly at bay.
Overall, we found it quite intuitive, though the icons could be more explicit. The file size of the download is rather large, and the installation takes correspondingly long. But that's a minor quibble, more than offset by the zero-dollar price. From charting billable hours to managing multiple fee schedules, contractors won't be able to believe their luck with BillQuick Lite.

Version: BillQuick Lite 2007 8.0.82
Pros: The software is very detailed. It did what I needed it to do. but at a cost
Cons: I don't like that it says it was free then wanted to charge me between $249.00 and $495.00. This is the bait and switch tactic and it is dirty. Why can't software companies just say that there is a charge for there product, instead of mismarking them as free.
I have noticed this several times now on this site...what is happening to Cnet?

"Appealing freeware till you see it's NOT free ... or misunderstanding?"
Pros: Appears to have good features and to be quite complete for a small business.
Cons: This is listed as free, so either the software maker is misrepresenting the product, trying to attract people so they will pay, after the trial, or CNET made a mistake listing this as free. I'm not sure the software maker is very clear actually, so I don't blame cnet.
I was looking to possibly move from a mac based product (I used ibiz) to a Windows-based one. I was going to take this for a spin. I wasn't sure for how long. But it had to do the job for a bit while I figured things out. Sorry, that's the way it is with some small businesses such as mine. I just don't have a big budget, and I am comfortable with computers, so I play with things for a while before making a decision. I don't do a lot of invoicing. Like once a month, so having the thing expire on me after the first cycle (or before, if I install it a bit in advance) is kind of useless. It does annoy me to have wasted my time downloading software (especially big stuff like this) just to find out I was mislead. Hence the 1 star. I don't like being taken down a dead-end path. I'm not going to bother looking at this further. If a company cannot be upfront about its product licensing, then maybe it's not a company I want to deal with.
On top of it, it would seem that you need to have Crystal Report to customize invoices and reports? You have to busy that! They must be kidding. More stuff to buy?? "or try" What kind of free software are they trying to SELL you here? Maybe there's another way to do customization, but I've seen enough already. This type of gimmick is not what I'm looking for.
It's unfortunate seeing products with potential with so many issues before you even start using it. If I had been looking to buy a product, I wouldn't have selected the free category, specifically.

"Looks ok - BUT Free version Nightmares"
Pros: Everything is good - UNTIL I aked to run the free version. I could never get it to a FREE, they always send you a Trial Key, not a free key.
Downloaded this thing 4 times - tried different keys - never worked as Free was always "Trial" mode.
+ Best part is they ran through a one-on-one web demonstration with me, that was great! :-) , Bonus points for that.
Cons: Maybe I did something wrong - but they never helped me. (I sent numerous help requests)
I wanted to use free version then upgrade at a later unknown date (not 30 days)
This was basically impossible for me.
MAKE SURE the Free Version is running WITHOUT "TRIAL"
