It's not going to win any design awards, but this handy program for monitoring your PC's bandwidth usage offers a nice set of features. BitMeter's floating graph with simple text displays for real-time downloads and uploads is easy to follow. You can customize the display's color and transparency.
Considering its size, BitMeter provides an impressive amount of options and information. You can view summaries of network activity with hourly, daily, and monthly breakdowns, or receive audio notifications that can be set by transfer size and direction. The built-in calculator is useful for computing the speed and size of download and upload activities. You can create automatic or manual backups of the program to easily restore history and settings, and there's an ISP Restrictions configuration panel that can configured with a minimum of hassle.
This freebie is easy enough for any user looking for a simple and effective tool for monitoring network activity.

Version: Bitmeter 3.0.1
"Great Utility, does alot, is really free, no ad/spyware"
Pros: Nice little utility. Scrolling banner subsides once your register. Registration is not with a website but your write to the programmer personally and he sends you a code key. The registration motive is only taking count.
Be sure you have .Net framework and the file is an .msi file requiring window installer to install. Good deal though and truly free. :)

"Fantastic, It's Free, It's Small, It works."
Pros: This product does a great job of monitoring computer bandwidth usage. It has several user configurable features. I have run a wide variety of apps, games, and internet utilities with no conflict, or system instability. This software also indicated a large amount of bandwidth usage this morning after a re-boot. Windows told me that a back door attempt was noticed and blocked, but it didn't detect another program in the background. A quick spyware scan, and the problem was solved. I wouldn't have known to look immediately if it hadn't been for this monitor running in the background.
A quick email to the author and I learned that the author is a quality motivated individual. The software is truly free, doesn't appear to have adverse affects on an otherwise stable system, and can save you a large amount of trouble later on.
Cons: I haven't seen a negative to this software yet. The author is to be commended for a top quality tool, submitted to benefit the public at large.
