Version: Cactus Spam Filter 2.13
"VERY efficient - I wait for enhancements and next releases"
Pros: EFFICIENT - EFFICIENT -EFFICIENT ! I receive around 400 spams a day and it detects 99% of them...
Cons: Black box. Very few parameters to tune. Lack of high level rules. I would love it to retain spam emails instead of fulling my mail box with spam-tagged email. BUT it is SO EFFICIENT !

"Efficient and Free POP3 Mail Filter"
Pros: 1). Simple and problem free Installation.
2). No modifications required to your Outlook email accounts (unlike programs such as SpamPal). If like me you have a number of POP3 mailboxes, this is a welcome change.
3). The program is not a computer resource hog!
4). When using Outlook 2002, I find incoming mail is placed into my Inbox almost as quickly as if there had been no spam filter in place - quite unlike other programs which call upon external black/white lists and often impose lengthy checking delays.
5). The training process was quick. After 24 hours of use, most of the spam was being correctly marked. A further few days was required to train Cactus for some of the more unusual spam. So far, no false trappings.
6). Compliments nicely with AVG 7.5 (Std) and both are Free! Well done Codeode.
One final comment is that I have set up one rule in Outlook to automate the process of sending 'Cactus Identified' spam to the Deleted Items folder as a last stage activity before permanently deleting unwanted mail.
Cons: Cannot comment about deinstall effectiveness as I have had no need to remove the program!

"This program does the job!!!"
Pros: Tried this on about 25 SPAM laden computers and worked well beyond expectations. Users required little training to maintain program. I highly recommand this to anyone who has serious SPAM problems. One other good thing is although they recommend a 50-50 ratio it worked well with various offset ratios. My users are all happy with this!!

"Stop Looking - You Found The Best!"
Pros: I highly recommend Cactus Spam Filter to my clients and to you! Your ISP may offer Postini, PostGrey, Maia MailGuard or another web based filter/blocker but these applications won't help much if your eMail address has been provided to the Spammer network - PERIOD. Three years ago, I made the mistake of allowing a visitor to use my eMail address to request some information online. Within a few days, large numbers of Spam were filling up my inbox and "Black Listing" was fruitless regardless of settings and training of the webmail filter (Positini). Tried many client based Spam filters and none of them could be trained to significantly reduce Spam - Until I tried Cactus Spam Filter! Easy to train with the Training Arena approach - Set probability at 90% - After a week or so of training, write a message rule to put identified Spam directly into your Deleted Items folder. Then you can set your eMail client (Outlook, OE, Thunderbird, SeaMonkey etc.) to empty the Deleted Items folder when the application is closed. Viola, minimal visible invasions!
Cons: One internet security suite's AV application does not like to check more than one eMail client at a time and will see Cactus Spam Filter as a second eMail client. My clients, family and friends who use any one of the Top Ten rated AV applications DO NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM. This is an issue with that one single AV application and NOT Cactus Spam Filter.
