  • "Take the FTP seas by storm"
Smoothly sail the file-transferring seas with this powerful FTP client. Of the many FTP clients around, Captain FTP continues to exceed our expectations in terms of usability and service. Cleanly designed with great attention to detail, Captain FTP brings an improved level of performance with each new release. This version allows local network FTP users to share files directly with each other--providing users with a platform on which to share their work and to collaborate on projects. Other enhancements include a new, tabbed interface supporting multiple FTP connections, as well as built-in file viewers for movies, audio, pictures, and PDF files. We're especially pleased with the Transfer Manager, which not only gives an excellent visual reference on the status of the transfer, but also allows you to set the priority and to schedule transfers. All in all, Captain FTP is an excellent program that remains on our list of favorite applications.

    "File Transfer made easy"

by Photo Mojo on March 5, 2006

Pros: Captain FTP is a sleek, user-friendly FTP application for Mac. I have tried many other FTP clients for Mac and none are as easy to use, work as well and are as visually appealing as Captain FTP. What I like best about the application is the ease with which you are able to transfer files. The interface is laid out in a very intuitive way; even inexperienced users will find this client will get them browsing and transferring files hassle free. More experienced users will find that tabs allowing for multiple uploads and downloads essential. I also really appreciate the visual design of this client. The FTP programs I have used in the past look so clunky and Windows-like, they just didn't fit. Captain FTP has function and design detail that no other FTP application can compete.

    "Decent Program, Bad Support"

    by nomad76 on February 23, 2006

    Pros: Looks Pretty.

Cons: No Support. Posted on Forum - No Answer. Sent Emails - No response. Worked fine for awhile. Did the update, and the system started to time out (freeze), couldnt upload at all. Put my out of business for 2 weeks, troubleshooting with my ISP, Hosting provider and anyone else. I finally switched to Yummy FTP and the program worked the first time with Noooo problems. It even looked like it had more features than Captain FTP. It wasnt as pretty, but It knew how to upload my files. Thats all i want from an FTP Program; reliability. Captain FTP didnt give it, and apparently doesnt care as long as they took my money. I cant totally Diss Captain FTP because when it worked, it worked well, but the support is what failed me. Also the manual sucks, no index or menu breakdown; and many features were are not listed in the manual. The manual is more like a general features brochure that I would read before buying the product.
