- "Remote access made easy"
In the age of broadband, there aren't many reasons to not be able to smoothly control your primary PC from a remote computer. GoToMyPC fills that niche, with an automatic install and quick registration process, crossplatform functionality, handheld device and multiple monitor support, and AES 128-bit encryption.
But in the age of freeware, GoToMyPC only offers a free 30-day trial. After that, you're looking at $20 per month for one PC or $30 for two, with each additional PC an extra $15 per month and 25 percent discounts for yearly subscriptions. That's not cheap.
The app itself works well. We were able to control our home computer from the office, and vice versa, with no problems. You connect by going to the GoToMyPC Web site and logging in. A window then opens, bordered in Medusa-esque green, which emulates the screen of the remote PC. Programs on the remote all open within the green border, with some extra remote functions included in the border itself. You can restart the remote computer (and lose the connection), send and sync files, print, and adjust the remote window size, among other tasks.
Everything the program said it would do, it did. And that's a beautiful and rare thing. The cost is a deterrent, though, especially when the competition is offering up better deals.

"Overpriced and poor customer services"
Pros: Speed, files drag and drop.
Cons: I have been a user of gotomypc in the past 3 years. Recently I switched to LogMeIn for the following reasons : (1) gotomypc's newest version 6 seemed to create connectivity issues. I had to contact customer services to back level to version 5.0 (2) it is way too pricy as compared to LogMeIn, which provide similar features and functions (3) customer support is lousy to say the least. I sent several emails to gotomypc's customer service and gave them a chance to match what LogMeIn offer. They simply ignored my emails and didn't bother to reply.

"Use GoToAssist Express Expert for FREE!!!!"
Pros: To be totally honest---nothing at all
Cons: It's not free and you have to watch the charges on your CC. They seem to change and/or charge you for things you didn't know about. Did I mention I hate trials as they are crap-ola! I tried to connect to a remote PC and the app sat in limbo for---ever! I even emailed support about it and NEVER received a response back on the issue--hows that for support. I'm NOT going to buy something that support doesn't back up and manage. Seems like all they want is your money hastle free from th consumer who wishes to pay for it and rest assured, you'll pay for it.....very disappointed as I work in the support services field and there is NO excuse not to answer your mail and/or back your product up if an fact you stand by it 100%. AMEN!
