Publisher's description of LimeWire 4.4
LimeWire 4.4 automatically upgrades Windows users who dont have 1.4.1 or higher to Java 1.5, which runs faster and is more visually appealing. UPnP-enabled (Universal Plug and Play) routers are detected and automatically configured for optimal performance. Version 4.4 also offers the ability to search for Creative Commons licensed files and to look up Creative Commons information if it is available on files. Licenses, once looked up, will be displayed in the library and search results. And of course, Lime Wire continues its guarantee of no adware and no spyware.
LimeWire is the world's fastest P2P file-sharing application, letting users share and search for all types of computer files, including movies, pictures, games, and text documents. The application's other features include dynamic querying, the ability to preview files while downloading, advanced techniques for locating rare files, and an extremely intuitive user interface.
Editor's review of LimeWire 4.4
4.0 stars
- "Down to the wire"
From its start as a post-Napster clone to its leading role as the quintessential Gnutella client, LimeWire has been one of the highest-profile P2P applications. The 4.0 series further ups the ante with a combination of new features, an updated interface, and better all-around performance.
On the surface, the refined and zippier Java interface houses some snazzy new icons and a few new features, including a connection-quality meter and a button matrix for zeroing in on specific file types. The search interface now sports a progress bar, and file information--such as artist and album--is more clearly displayed. The improved network performance gave us considerably more search results than previous versions and a more reliable downloading experience (for a P2P client, that is). This latest version also feels more nimble despite its inherently resource-heavy Java-based foundation. We like the What's New feature, which lists files recently added to the network. The check box to filter out adult content also is a nice touch.
The new features and overall functionality make this by far the most mature version of LimeWire to date. Despite the typical performance flaws found in all file-sharing clients, this latest version continues to offer solid performance and good looks across the board.

Version: LimeWire 4.4
"Best and fastest P2P forever!"
Pros: Fast, no adware/spyware NO MATTER WHAT, has a clear interface, easy to navigate, and the Pro version is inexpensive so I got it! You can download skins, and LimeWire is very configurable! It usually eats 15MB RAM minimum and 30MB maximum. Well, what do you expect? It's written in Java! It's the best file-sharing app that you can afford! And there are no ads in the basic version, just the 'Please upgrade to Pro' screen at startup and the links at the bottom! Well, at least it doesn't affect your downloading experience! Get LimeWire NOW!!! And try upgrading to Pro to enrich speed!
Cons: None! Except the nag screen at startup in Basic version! Just that! Get LimeWire/Pro!

Version: LimeWire 4.4
"This P2P program holds great promises..."
Pros: 1) Easy-to-use, clean interface.
2) Firewall-to-Firewall transfers so you can enjoy P2P speed and security at the same time
3) Fastest download speed known yet (greatly surpasses eDonkey, iMesh, Morpheus, Ares Lite, WinMX, and others)
Cons: An update reminder once in awhile or a an option to check for updates in the top toolbar would be nice, but...
1) THIS PROGRAM IS SPYWARE/ADWARE-FREE AND CON-FREE *****/***** rating
2) I <3 it!
