"I like scheduled recordings, Vista default setup has no sound, action required"
Pros: The first screen in the Power Audio Recording Wizard explains correct setup, but is very hard to read. Read it anyway. I couldn?t use any program to record audio until I followed these instructions. I could only get one Audio Recording Program at a time to work. You can get to this box in Vista without going through Power Audio Recorder by Windows:Control Panel:Hardware and Sound:Sound.
?By default, the only recoding input devices are "Microphone" and "Line In" which would mean that you can't record a sound played on your computer. To enable additional inputs, log on with elevated administrator rights and follow these steps.Click "Recording Device" button above, right click on a white space and select Show Disabled Devices from the pop-up menu in "Sound" window. Now you should see all the devices available.Right click and select Enable for each device that you want to use.Restart the program, you can see recording device in recording device list above.?
The Audio Level Meter will confirm that Stereo Mix is working. I turned Recording Level up to full, Windows Mixer Sound level up to full (and turned down my speakers with external volume on powered subwoofer system). Audacity confirmed that this wasn?t clipping the signal. You can return levels to normal after recording is finished.
