Publisher's description of Trillian 3.1.5.1
Trillian is a fully featured, stand-alone, skinnable chat client that supports AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo Messenger, and IRC. It provides capabilities not possible with original network clients, while supporting standard features such as audio chat, file transfers, group chats, chat rooms, buddy icons, multiple simultaneous connections to the same network, server-side contact importing, typing notification, direct connection (AIM), proxy support, encrypted messaging (AIM/ICQ), SMS support, tabbed chatting, system-tray notifications and alerts, and privacy settings.
Version 3.1 adds a new identity feature that helps you organize your home and work contact lists and Vista support. Version 3.1.5.1 is a bug-fixing release.

- "All-in-one IM"
After nearly two years, Trillian is back to claim its rightful title as king of all chat clients. Version 3 offers a completely overhauled interface, tabbed chatting, enhanced messaging functionality, improved file transfers, and a new Instant Lookup feature. The program offers simultaneous access to the fab-five chat clients: Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger, ICQ, mIRC, and AIM. By importing your passwords, buddy lists, and client preferences into its own interface, Trillian acts as a hub for all your chat traffic.
Installation and setup are simple, and the included features are useful. You can check supported e-mail accounts with one click, view detailed event logs for each client, and, of course, chat. Plus, each supported chat client has options such as video and voice messaging, SMS support, and file transfers. Trillian also offers skin support, although they can be a bit testy to install. While you'll occasionally lose contact with AIM, that's AOL's fault. Credit Trillian for fixing these blocks quickly.
The best thing about Trillian is that it's absolutely free--there's no adware or functionality limitations. So if you need help managing your schizophrenic chatting identity, this puppy's for you.

Version: Trillian 3.1.5.1
Pros: I liked how the software was designed, for the first thing that I saw was the nicely designed light blue panels. I noticed that the settings, and other features are more easy to use than other chat clients, such as AIM.
Cons: I would recommend to the company to add a internet radio, video, or something else to make it a top client, such as AIM has a internet radio. Trillian could also use a built in RSS reader, to make it more interactive.

Version: Trillian 3.1.5.1
Pros: Good if you use multiple instant messengers.
Cons: I have been using Trillian for a long time now because I have many different Instant Messengers and with Trillian I only need to use one program.
Cerulean has been touting their new IM program Astra for a long time now and I'm wondering why there is such a hubub about this newest edition of Trillian.
I can't see any difference at all between this version and the previous one...with one exception.
When installing this version I was asked if I wanted to also install some sort of weather program on my pc. You're given the option of saying no, which I did. However, while the installation was being completed I noticed that the ASK toolbar was also being installed without my permission.
Now since I use Firefox and not IE it's not a huge issue but now my WinPatrol is constantly asking me if I want to allow this browser helper to be installed. Even though I say no it still continues to ask me.
This has become quite annoying and since there is no major difference in this version and the previous I am considering uninstalling it and going back to the previous one.
It would have been nice to be given the option of having the ASK toolbar installed, not just forcing it on me.
Shame on you Cerulean!

Version: Trillian 3.1.5.1
Pros: I like that it can handle all the major chat clients at once. I personally use it for MSN, ICQ, as well as IRC. It can handle IRC just as well as mIRC. All in all, a fantastic program! Plus, it's open source, and free!
Cons: With the release of a brand new update, I was hoping it would fix a bug I get. I stay logged on to MSN all the time, and sometimes I come back to see I have been disconnected. The new update did not fix this. That is the ONLY complaint I have.

Version: Trillian 3.1.5.1
"Perfect for keeping up with multiple IM accounts"
Pros: It's all in one. You don't need different programs to reach friends who use different messangers. I have used the free program for several years now. Easy set up. I love the "you've got a message" sound, just a sweet unobtrusive musically inclined note to get your attention without startling you.
Cons: Watch out during setup for the toolbar add-ons. Make sure if you don't want them that you uncheck them. I just didn't want them, some folks do. Most of the emoticons are not readable by AOL IM users. I wish they were universally compatible and larger. There are a lot of emots to chose from but they're so tiny and look so similar sometimes it's hard to distinquish until you select one and enter it on the writing pad.

Version: Trillian 3.1.5.1
Pros: i love this program, it has ims for Yahoo!, MSN, AOL, and ICQ. What's better than having all those in one program???
Cons: just the 3-6 second "exit" program delay.
