Publisher's description of Trillian 3.1.7.0
Trillian is a fully featured, stand-alone, skinnable chat client that supports AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo Messenger, and IRC. It provides capabilities not possible with original network clients, while supporting standard features such as audio chat, file transfers, group chats, chat rooms, buddy icons, multiple simultaneous connections to the same network, server-side contact importing, typing notification, direct connection (AIM), proxy support, encrypted messaging (AIM/ICQ), SMS support, tabbed chatting, system-tray notifications and alerts, and privacy settings.
Version 3.1.7.0 closes a previous security vulnerability.

- "All-in-one IM"
After nearly two years, Trillian is back to claim its rightful title as king of all chat clients. Version 3 offers a completely overhauled interface, tabbed chatting, enhanced messaging functionality, improved file transfers, and a new Instant Lookup feature. The program offers simultaneous access to the fab-five chat clients: Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger, ICQ, mIRC, and AIM. By importing your passwords, buddy lists, and client preferences into its own interface, Trillian acts as a hub for all your chat traffic.
Installation and setup are simple, and the included features are useful. You can check supported e-mail accounts with one click, view detailed event logs for each client, and, of course, chat. Plus, each supported chat client has options such as video and voice messaging, SMS support, and file transfers. Trillian also offers skin support, although they can be a bit testy to install. While you'll occasionally lose contact with AIM, that's AOL's fault. Credit Trillian for fixing these blocks quickly.
The best thing about Trillian is that it's absolutely free--there's no adware or functionality limitations. So if you need help managing your schizophrenic chatting identity, this puppy's for you.

Version: Trillian 3.1.7.0
"Best Multi-protocol chat-client ever"
Pros: I've been using Trillian for several years now. (ICQ2002 was my last real ICQ. I don't miss a thing, since I dislike terribly overloaded interfaces with 40% of the area full of colors and commercials.
Trillian is functional but still nice looking. All chat-windows accross the different messenger protocols live together in harmony, the history is reliable, background images of each chat-window... very cool!
Cons: Trillian loses the sort-order from time to time and the offline-contact management / grouping could be improved.

Version: Trillian 3.1.7.0
Pros: It looks very nice, and is good for IMing. I happen to like their IM sounds and notification sounds.
Cons: A lot of plugins do not work , and I have never seen an IM Client that costs money just work, it uses a lot of RAM, and sometimes you cannot transfer files or use audio well. I used to use this all the time, but I notice it was a bit too much. All I want is something FREE, clean, and simple.

Version: Trillian 3.1.7.0
Pros: Easy to install and to configure, use is even more easy. You can dock, auto-hide, set your state - all easy and with no need of a manual. So normally a five-star-app.
Cons: needs a lot of Windows ressources, long time for start-up, does not support all features of the original messengers, e.g. in Zahoo you can "buzz" your friend, in Trillian you neither receive it in a functual mannor, nor are you able to send a "buzz"by yourself. Some Emoticons work, others do not. All small little faults, nothing big, therefore one star less

Version: Trillian 3.1.7.0
"Great All-In-One replacement"
Pros: It connects somewhat faster than the most Instant Messengers.
You can connect all the things at start up by editing it in the preferences.
It doesn't take much system requirements to run it. And connecting goes much faster.
Cons: Some extra features are not available, but some are. Like audio chats. But the bad thing is, i wanted to talk with someone with the mic, and my friend was using Windows Live Messenger, we weren't able to talk because it wasnt able to get it on running.
Also, you might not love the skin wich is standard on Trillian, luckily, you still can change it.
