From Laminar Research:X-Plane is a realistic and colorful flight simulator that supports 3D display of terrain and elevation maps. It includes a physics modeler that can simulate various weather conditions such as rain, thunderstorms, and turbulence. Advanced technology in this version includes dynamic speech synthesis; hardware-accelerated, texture-mapped graphics; OpenGL support (see card requirements below); serial-port output to drive cockpit instruments; motion systems; and moving maps. Other features include oil rigs with helipads that you can land on, full rendering of other air traffic for formation flying, and plotting of all intersections on the maps for IFR practice. In addition, the cockpit textures, the plane textures, and the sounds are all customizable. This version features new clouds and lighting, as well as five new instruments that have been added to the instrument panel, and more.
